It was warm and sunny on the 14th when we dropped the dock lines and headed for Port Townsend. An early departure would give us time to motor North of Edmonds where we could catch the turn to Ebb, and ride […]

I love wind in may hair and salt spay on my face. And the cover comes off most every time I go out so I get those things.
But when guests are unsure of coming with me due to what they think is qustionable […]

In reply to: Marshall Santos posted an update in the group Boating Advice I’m also a new member to this group, and hope to get some much-needed advice. I’m relocating my 34-foot ”trawler” from St. Helens Marina to Riverplace […] ViewHey Marshal,
Have a great trip. A lookout on the bow is nice, and going slow gives you time to react. Personally I would also stay close to mid channel if the big boats are not around….more room to maneuver .

Love the preview Deborah. It should be a great Third Friday presentation.

Daniel Leach commented on the post, Three Sheets poll: Has Carhartt crossed the line?, on the site Three Sheets Northwest 6 months, 3 weeks ago
I vote batshit crazy. I particularly love the $500 blazer with Carhartt’s logo. Who in there right mind wants a blazer with a damn logo on it, outside of a Carhartt’s rep at a convention. Here’s hoping this […]

Karin’s only comment is, “sign me up.” We got to go out on her the Sunday evening of CWB’s Wooden Boat Festval, and it was awesome.

When we want less windage, we have the option to take the whole thing down, and fold back the Bimini frame. Going off shore, most people I see have a Bimini for protection, and many have a lot more of arch, solar panel, and other “stuff” tacked on. In rough weather you would just stow [...]

Thanks Deborah, it’s really nice. I can recommend the upgrade. But be careful. There’s an Island Packet like yours on my dock with a really outsized wagon looking one. It really takes away from the look of the boat.

So, Karin and I are hardy souls. We’ve cruised for years on Marie, our Hinterhoeller Niagara 35 with a dodger and the full knowledge that sometimes it gets wet and cold. We have foulies and sweaters. What more do we need? Nothing, really. We have been very happy cruising this way. But everyone once in a [...] -

Really Deborah….I know you are a proud Canadian…but isn’t this more, much more, than should ever be written about Poutine. Or is the length of the piece just you being hip and ironic?

Summer cruising is coming up later in August….but I’m always in a hurry to get going…even when I know I can’t go quite yet. I do have to work. Sure, working at The Center for Wooden Boats hardly qualifies since it’s so darn fun. But we have Festival to do, then Karin has business trips. [...]

I know this is last summer’s summary….but I thought I’d put it up. More coming this year
Posted on September 29, 2010 by danleach22So another summer has come and gone. It was too short, too cool, and too soon over. But Karin and I did get the chance to spread the sails and stretch out for two weeks [...] -

just promoted you post to the homepage. Sounds like a lovely time on the lake. I miss living aboard there — but my slip was closer to Fremont. Great location next to the Fremont Bridge.
