"...guaranteed to have the wind right on your bow or stern..."

We're used to it! You could just as well be describing Puget Sound!

It's a shame about the dearth of anchorages but it was so pretty I'm sure we'll swing through for a day trip at least.

We certainly did pass through Squamish, but I am ashamed to say that I was asleep at the time. We'll have to stop and see the sights there this summer. I imagine all the Olympic traffic (and the construction that preceded it) was quite an inconvenience to residents, but as one of the beneficiaries of all that hassle, I want to thank you for enduring it. Our memories of it all will last a lifetime... and you are guaranteed to keep seeing our tourist dollars rolling in as long as we are cruising in this part of the world.

We're glad you like the site, thanks for letting us know!

Glad you enjoyed yourselves at the games!
You passed right through our little town of Squamish en route to Whistler.
Although you'll certainly be welcome here and the scenery is spectacular, the cruising in Howe Sound ( the body of water that parallels the Sea to Sky Highway ) isn't the greatest; very deep water with virtually no anchorage, and you're pretty much guaranteed to have the wind right on your bow or stern depending on the time of day.
Just found 3 Sheets a few weeks ago...really enjoying it! - Boyd

If you happened to work at the shop that makes the heretofore unknown to me, but altogether welcome addition to my universe, "breakfast calzone" then my hat is off to you. There is no greater accomplishment, either culinary or nautical, with which you might astound me. Should you open a franchise in Seattle, I will be the first and greatest customer. And, though I am sure Three Sheets is destined for great things, it would become merely a hobby site, as your riches from breakfast calzone franchises would grow beyond calculation.

Otherwise, I'm heading back up to Vancouver as soon as possible for more. You'll get tired of hearing about Lonsdale Quay, because that's the only place I'll be hanging out (breakfast calzones, being neither wholly breakfast, nor wholly calzone, are of course served all day long).

Awesome post, Scot!!! It's exciting just to be at the Olympics, but to arrive there by boat - does it get any better than that?!

Your story made me homesick for my hometown. I used to work at Lonsdale Quay, way back when, and worked downtown during Expor 86. Good times!

I look forward to hearing more about your time in Vancouver.

Cheers!
