When her future husband, Aaron, told her on their first date about his dream of sailing around the world, Nicole Maraschky was more than a little surprised.

“I was just floored,” she recalled. “It was something I never in a million years thought I would do.”

Nicole had never set foot on a sailboat, but she was intrigued. As the relationship got more serious, she realized that if they were going to stay together, she needed to figure out how she felt about sailing. She started secretly reading sailing books, wanting to make her own assessment.
