In Migael’s Wake | Filucy Bay

Filucy Bay

Filucy Bay, located at the southeast end of the Key Peninsula, is one of the most beautiful and protected anchorages in South Puget Sound. Much of the shoreline here is wooded. The town of Longbranch is little more than a cluster of homes. In early spring, the haunting music of loons can be heard over the still waters; when the weather is clear, Mt. Rainier fills the harbor entrance.

Other than a rustic pavilion near the guest moorage, Filucy Bay has no facilities for boaters. The country store and Old Chowder House have been long closed.

Yet even though there is nothing to do here, this is a popular destination on summer weekends.

Moorings and Anchorage
The Longbranch Improvement Club owns and operates the marina, which offers guest slips, a fishing dock and a dinghy dock. Tie up south of the boathouses, either outside or inside the large, horseshoe-like arrangement of floats. A fee box is located in front of the boathouses, near the dockmaster’s shed. Electricity is available on all guest floats.

Anchorage is good in mud bottom throughout the bay. The northern inlet is often preferred for its peaceful surroundings.

Getting Ashore
Take your skiff to the marina. All other tidelands are private.
