Looking for a liveaboard slip? Everett just added more of them. Below is a press release from the Port of Everett with more details:
The Port of Everett has received approval from the City of Everett to allow liveaboards at its 12th Street Yacht Basin.
The 220-slip, state-of-the-art marina facility is equipped with moorage slips ranging from 40 to 70 feet, with end ties up to 143 feet. Per Port policy, the number of liveaboards for the Port’s marina facilities is capped at 10 percent of the marina slips. The Port’s marina, which is the largest public marina on the West Coast, has more than 2,100 slips in addition to guest moorage.
“It is very exciting to be able to offer this amenity to our 12th Street moorage holders,” Port Marina Director Cyndy Olson said. “The 12th Street Marina facility was constructed with all the amenities to compliment the liveaboard lifestyle.”
Some marina amenities include:
- 156 slips for 40’ to 70’ yachts with end-ties up to 143’
- Single slips available in 65’ and 70’ lengths
- 8’ wide floats with 5’ or 6’ wide fingers
- 30/50 amp or 50/100 amp electrical service depending on slip size
- Complimentary slip side pump out
- Basic cable
- Dock boxes
- Restrooms with free showers
- Laundry
- Security gate access to 80’ ADA gangways
- Gated parking
To allow liveaboards at its facilities, the Port must meet all provisions of the City of Everett’s Shoreline Master Program. This program requires, among other conditions, that boating facilities provide both dockside gray water and sewage disposal facilities to moorage holders. The Port’s 12th Street Marina infrastructure meets this requirement. We encourage the use of shore side facilities to reduce gray water generation and promote vessels to contain gray water holding tanks in the 12th Street Yacht Basin.
Additionally, the Shoreline Master Program requires the Port to establish a water quality monitoring program to determine if any significant affects to water quality result from liveaboards in the marina area. The Port and City staffs have recently agreed on the sampling and testing protocols for the required monitoring program, which will be implemented this year The Port has hired Pentec Environmental to oversee the technical aspects of this program, said Graham Anderson, Senior Planner for the Port of Everett, and the results will be reviewed by the City for compliance.
In 2007, the Port of Everett Marina received “Clean Marina Certification” through Clean Marina Washington. This certification was renewed in 2009, because of the Port’s continued efforts to ensure a healthy Puget Sound. The Port also partners with Puget Soundkeeper Alliance to ensure proper bilge water disposal and People For Puget Sound on numerous environmental activities.
