The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has announced that both large and small locks at the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks in Seattle will be closing temporarily this week for diver operations.
The large lock will be closed from 8 a.m. until noon Tuesday, February 4, so divers can install a pump plant cofferdam. The small lock will be available on that date until work is completed in the large lock. Vessels incapable of transiting the small lock will be unable to pass through until the large lock is re-opened.
Once work is complete in the large lock, the divers will move over to the small lock to perform unspecified operations for the remainder of the day on Tuesday, and for Wednesday, February 5.
