In January, the Port of Everett announced the hiring of its new marina director, Jeff Bearman; four months later, he was abruptly gone.
Port spokeswoman Lisa Lefeber confirmed that Bearman left his $95,000-a-year position in late May, but declined to say whether his departure was voluntary.
“It didn’t have anything to do with his performance while he was at the Port of Everett,” she said only.
Bearman took on the marina director position Jan. 20 after working at public and private marinas for more than 20 years, according to the Port. He replaced former Acting Marina Director Scott Grindy, who had worked for the Port eight years and held the marina position for about a year, Lefeber said.
Grindy left in September last year and departed voluntarily to run a marina in California, she said.
The Port is now interviewing possible candidates to fill the position, Lefeber said.
“We’ve had a couple of interviews, but we haven’t made any decisions yet,” she said.
