$100 for a haulout at Dunato’s
Mar 6 2012 in BoatPop by Marty McOmber
This week’s BoatPop deal, brought to you by Three Sheets Northwest and the Seattle Boat Show, is a good one: $100 for a haulout at Dunato’s. Good for boats 30 to 49 feet. And it includes blocking and launching. Nice.
Here’s the scoop:
Get a $100 haulout for boats 30 to 49 feet at Dunato’s Marine Services on Seattle’s Lake Union, a discount of up to 71 percent. A full-service boatyard in business on Lake Union since 1970, Dunato’s does everything from bottom-painting and zinc replacement to metal fabrication.
Need a fiberglass or wood repair? A heating system installed? Help with an electrical problem? Maybe you’ve been thinking about installing a bow thruster or a new steering system. Dunato’s skilled and professional crew can do that, and much more. A list of services offered can be found here.
To accommodate boats of varying sizes, the yard has a 60-ton Travelift and a 20-ton crane. There’s a boathouse for vessels up to 75 feet, a sheltered structure for smaller boats and an indoor, heat-controlled shop for boats up to 55 feet. New docks can provide moorage for vessels of 40 to 120 feet.
And, yes, the haulout deal includes putting your boat back into the water.

I worked for Dunatos Marine from 2006 to 2008, they are truly a great place to ” get ER done”, they were awesome to work for, paying a good wage, and friendly.
I left to pursue a relationship in the South Sound area, but hold on to the many skills I learned while employed there!
The DIY is possible there, yet enviro- laws are sensitive issues so close to Lake Union, and Dunatoes stands by those laws. That, In my opinion is a good thing!
I you need a great place to get stuff done, you’ve found a treasure chest of talent here.
Don’t forget Dunatos Second Wave too!! There is a mother load of used marine items there!!!

Dunato’s donated a great haul-out package for the STYC benefit race on 3/13 this year. We really appreciate them supporting the sailing community as they have done for years and years. I asked them about DIY and they are pretty much no DIY, but ask and be specific about what you want to do. Having said that, you have to leave Seattle these days if you want to do much of anything on your boat yourself including at Canal. Some places will let you but in most cases that requires a special relationship with the yard operator. Nice Boat Pop Marty …I noticed that they must have gotten a larger lift as I recall in the past they would haul out bigger than 40 (I think).

I know some folks that work there. Very knowledgeable and “our kind of people” I have never used Dunatos however because I’m a do it yourselfer.

Great yard and good people. But if you are looking to do DYI work, then you should check with them first to makes sure they would allow it.

I’ve always hauled out at Canal; how does Dunato’s compare?
